    Sutter Health Family Medicine Residency Program Announces New Resident Matches for 2007-2008     03-19-2007

    Sacramento and Davis | March 19, 2007 The Sutter Health Family Medicine Residency Program is pleased to announce our intern class for the 2007-08 academic year. We are very pleased to welcome this wonderful group of young physicians.

    Davis Track

    Jennifer Papazian received her B.S. in Human Development from the University of California, Davis where she also was selected for Phi Beta Kappa. She will complete her medical training there as well this summer. Her accomplishments during medical school include co-authoring three publications with the MIND Institute and the U.C. Davis, Division of Pain Medicine.

    Mark Moeller will graduate from University of California at Davis School of Medicine and received his B.A. in English Literature from Dartmouth College. His non-traditional pathway to medicine includes a successful career in business development and management, that includes co-founding several Internet based services.

    Sacramento Track

    Laura Heller Applebaum will receive her M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She attended undergraduate school at Princeton University where she earned a B.A. in psychology with magna cum laude honors and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa. She has a passion for working with underserved and underprivileged populations particularly from the global health perspective.

    Erin Marie Skolness Deane graduates this summer from the University of California San Diego Medical School. She received her B. S. in Chemistry from C.S.U. Sacramento. This local girl is the recipient of the 2003 William E. Dochterman Medical Student Scholarship from the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society. While in medical school she co-founded the first American Geriatrics Society student chapter on campus.

    Shelley Eder attended University of California Davis earning a B.S. in Psychology and will receive her M.D. from U.C. Davis this summer. She has been inducted into multiple honorary societies. While in college and medical school she has been an active volunteer with the student run Imani Clinic in Oak Park, serving as a co-director while a medical student.

    Robert Martinez will receive his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He has a B. S. in Biological Sciences emphasizing Medical Microbiology from University of California, Davis. He has a strong interest in community service and hopes to provide preventive care to underserved populations, especially those that may benefit from his Spanish speaking ability.

    Raymundo Ortega received his B. S. in Biology from the University of California at Davis and will receive his M.D. from there, as well, this summer. He has been a strong advocate for outreach to cultivate interest in health science careers among minorities and he has been the co-director of the Latino Medical Student Association since his second year of medical school.
